Storybook Island
Storybook Island is a children’s theme park and theater in Rapid City, South Dakota, established in 1959 by the Rapid City Rotary Club.
History
Storybook island was initially established for the purpose of having a free children’s park in Rapid City. The park re-opens for its 2017 summer season on May 27, 2017. Children and adults of all ages have reported enjoying the free park, as well as the entertainment available in the theater.
Fundraising
Because the park is free admission, the staff is heavily reliant on sponsors to be able to keep the park safe and clean. The park's executive director, Connie LeZotte, said in a statement to Black Hills FOX that the park takes '...over half a million dollars a year for us to do that.'
Wrap up
The entertaining aspects of the park, as well as the free admissions make this park a memorable experience for many who go.
