Crazy Horse
Crazy Horse was born in the early 1840s near Rapid City, South Dakota. There are many pictures claiming to be of Crazy Horse, but many are fake because he was out of range of most frontier photographers.
Crazy Horse fought against the removal of his people from their native lands on to reservations. He was fair skinned and had brown curly hair, which made him look physically different from other boys his age.
Crazy Horse seemed to have a mystical ability to avoid injury or death. He led the Battle of Rosebud and won against the U.S. military, and then he and many Sioux were pursued by the U.S. military up to Canada. Eventually Crazy Horse surrendered to the U.S. to be assigned to a reservation, but was killed in a struggle when he caught the sight of the cage he would have been forced to live in. There are many versions of how he died, but each contributes to the legend that is Crazy Horse.
