President Wilson was also on the National Security Council staff under President George H.W. Bush during the fall of the Berlin Wall. Before being elected to Congress, Wilson was the cabinet secretary of New Mexico's Children, Youth, and Families Department, where she was chief executive of the state agency. This agency was responsible for foster care, adoption, early childhood education, children’s mental health, and the juvenile justice system.
Wilson earned a Bachelor of Science degree from USAF Academy and graduated in the third class to include women. She made Keystone International Inc. in 1991. Heather Wilson represented New Mexico in Congress from 1999 to 2009 and also worked as a senior advisor for scientific and defense companies.
