Native New Yorker Restaurant Review
Native New Yorker is a sit down restaurant located of Eglin St. in Rapid City. Native is located about 10 min from the Civic center. Native New Yorker is a sports bar and grill and specializes in serving wings and burgers. When eating here expected to pay somewhere between 9-15 dollars for a meal plus a tip for your server. Also allow a decent amount of time to sit down and eat.
I visited Native New Yorker on Feb. 25th with a couple friends. The restaurant itself has a bar area as well as a dining room. There is not much separating the two areas besides the entrance to the restaurant which means the sound in the restaurant is a bit louder than a typical sit down restaurant. However, since it is a sports bar this is expected. There are several TV’s in the bar area that are visible from the dining area. In case you want to catch part of a game and eat in the dining room. My friends and I decided to sit in the dining room where there was less people. The service was fine, but nothing special. The waiter we had was polite and checked in on us every once in a while, but it wasn’t anything spectacular. We ordered our food and waited what seemed to be a bit longer than a typical sit down restaurant to get our food, maybe 20-25 min. I ordered chicken wings. My friends ordered burgers. The menu is a typical American bar and grill menu. This includes the aforementioned things plus salads, pizzas, sandwiches etc. When it came to quality of food I really enjoyed my wings. They had a promotion coupon where I was able to get my wings at half price. I got a 12 pack of wings which is usually the amount of wings I eat at similar restaurants. The flavor I got was Buffalo-ranch dry rub. I am a dry rub type of guy so anytime I order wings it I’m always ordering a dry rub. The taste itself was very good, better than I was expecting. Lots of flavor. I could taste both the buffalo and ranch it wasn’t just some name where it sounded good and then wasn’t. Another thing that should be mentioned is the size of wings I received. They were not small. When it comes to size these wings had good portions of meat on them which was a pleasant surprise as well. Price wise since I had the coupon I ended up paying around 9 dollars after buying the wings and a drink. Overall, I would consider Native New Yorker a quality restaurant in the Rapid City Food Scene. I know for one I will be going back the food was a home run and the service was decent.
